Empfohlene Rebsorte im Douro-Tal, Dão, Valpaços, Planalto Mirandês, Encostas da Nave und Varosa. Die kleine Traube ist unumstritten die edelste Rotweinsorte Portugals, damit auch international interessant; gering im Ertrag, vielschichtig in der Geschmacksstruktur, mit hohem Extrakt, vollbepackt mit feiner Frucht (schwarze Johannisbeeren), einem Touch Veilchen, dichter Farbe und Tanninen. Weine aus Touriga Nacional haben ein gutes Reifepotenzial.
